A faithful cast of the Late Jurassic predator's skull, rendered at roughly two feet nine inches and built around the light, openly fenestrated construction that defined this animal's head. The blade-like teeth and the paired ridges set before and above the eyes are reproduced in crisp detail, giving the piece a poised, watchful presence on a plinth or shelf.
Each cast is hand-finished and patinated to read as aged bone, the suture lines and tooth sockets brought up by hand so the form holds its weight under gallery light.
Allosaurus skulls carried short bony ridges before and above the eyes, a feature used to set the genus apart from other large theropods.
Studies of its jaw mechanics suggest it could strike downward with an open mouth, driving the serrated upper teeth like a hatchet rather than relying on a crushing bite.
The skull was lightly built and pierced by large openings, reducing weight while leaving room for the jaw musculature.
