A small hunter caught mid-stride, tail held level.
This life-size cast renders the complete articulated frame of a small Late Cretaceous predator, roughly the body proportions of a turkey carried low and long, the whole some two metres from snout to tail tip. The stiffened tail extends behind the hips as a counterweight, the sickle claw lifted clear of the ground on each foot, the skeleton mounted in a poised, forward-leaning gait that fills the space around it without crowding a room.
Each cast is hand-finished and assembled on a discreet armature, the bone surfaces toned to read with the depth and patina of the original material.
Velociraptor lived roughly 75 to 71 million years ago in what is now the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and northern China.
Quill knobs preserved on a Velociraptor forearm indicate the animal bore feathers along its arms, despite being flightless.
The Fighting Dinosaurs specimen preserves a Velociraptor entangled with a Protoceratops, the pair buried together around 75 million years ago.
